A l’occasion de la Présidence Française du Conseil de l'Union Européenne, la Saison culturelle européenne présente une série de manifestations lors du second semestre 2008. Le CND Pantin et le Théâtre National de Chaillot se sont à cette occasion associés afin de présenter les danses hiphop – et plus – sous de multiples formes au Palais de Chaillot. | |||||||||

Point de départ, un focus sur le tandem franco-allemand, un des moteurs de l’amitié et de la coopération européenne. D’abord, une reprise du spectacle “Es war einmal…”/”Il était une fois…”, conçu et chorégraphié par Storm, co-chorégraphié par Raphael Hillebrand. | |||||||||

Ce projet chorégraphique à vocation pédagogique et civique, a pour la première fois été présenté au Hebbel am Ufer Berlin en avril 2007. Storm a alors dirigé des ateliers de transmission de plusieurs mois à des jeunes danseurs berlinois dans différents centres de quartier de la capitale allemande. A l’issue de ce travail, il a mobilisé 18 jeunes, majoritairement issus du quartier de Neukölln, dans une création chorégraphique d’un “conte hiphop”. Sur scène, se retrouvent avec eux, six jeunes danseurs professionnels de Berlin et du Val d’Oise. | |||||||||

Le spectacle, présenté à nouveau pour une série au HAU 1 Berlin en juin 2007, a été repris en novembre dernier à l’initiative du CND Pantin, avec un groupe de 10 jeunes danseuses et danseurs amateurs de Seine-Saint-Denis et du Val d’Oise, avec la même distribution de danseurs professionnels. | |||||||||
La reprise dans le cadre de la Saison culturelle européenne concrétise un rêve : unir et fusionner les deux groupes de jeunes danseurs pendant deux semaines de répétitions pour une présentation dans la grande salle de Chaillot. Les jeunes participants, 10 sont venus de Berlin-Neukölln et 10 de Seine-Saint-Denis et du Val d’Oise, ont été épaulés par l’équipe des jeunes danseurs professionnels, sous la direction de Storm, assisté de Raphael Hillebrand.
Le second solo de Storm, “Virtuelevation”, a été présenté dans la grande salle du Palais de Chaillot. La soirée était partagé avec la compagnie Accrorap et son magnifique “Petites histoires.com” de Kader Attou que certains d’entre vous ont pu découvrir dans la programmation de Danse HipHop Tanz au Théâtre Louis Aragon de Tremblay-en-France. | |||||||||

Dans la salle Gémier de Chaillot, la jeune création “Seuls, ensemble” de Sébastien Ramirez et Raphael Hillebrand a partagé la scène avec le saisissant “T’es Trois” des Black Blanc Beur, chorégraphié par Christine Coudun.
Les présentations scéniques étaient complétées par une jam animée par Rachdi Zgaren et le collectif Family, ainsi que par le “light painting” de Marko 93 – accompagné de Marguerite M’Boulé - dans le foyer du Théâtre National de Chaillot.

L’Institut Français d’Ukraine et le Goethe Institut Ukraine, soutenus par le Fond Elysée, se sont associés pour présenter “Solo for Two” de Storm, et la chorégraphie franco-allemande “Men at Work” par et avec Karl “Kane Wüng” Libanus et Storm. Les représentations auront lieu à Dnipropetrovsk - dans le cadre du festival international “Danse Libre” - puis à Kiev. A Dnipropetrovsk, Kane-Wüng animera un atelier de danse et Storm siègera dans le jury du premier battle international de bboying en Ukraine. | |||||||||

A l'Espace Culturel François Mittérand de Canteleu, il s’agit de la première scénique de ce travail qui sera sans doute jamais vraiment figé, vu que l’émotion et l’improvisation sont au premier plan. C’est ici, à l’Espace François Mittérand, que le public découvrira la création lumière de Stéphane Rouaud.

Sébastien & Raphael au Vietnam : “Crossing roots”
En septembre 2008 ont eu lieu les auditions à Hanoi : Sébastien et Raphael ont travaillé avec une bonne cinquantaine de jeunes danseurs hiphop et traditionnels, des mimes, acteurs, beatboxers, ont invité des musiciens traditionnels aux auditions afin de créer des improvisations et croisements entre les univers traditionnels et hiphop, entre danse, musique et théâtre.
La phase de réalisation débute maintenant. Dès la mi-novembre, les répétitions commencent avec 9 danseuses et danseurs, et, pour une ouverture vers d’autres horizons musicaux, deux musiciens traditionnels font également partie de l’équipe de création. Ceux qui ont découvert leur duo “Seuls, ensemble” ont une idée de l’univers artistique de Raphael et Sébastien : ils recherchent la magie du mouvement au-delà du vocabulaire des danses hiphop qu’ils maîtrisent avec brio, ils dépassent la danse et composent avec tous les éléments des arts de la scène, notamment le théâtre et le mime, la parole et la musique. Les artistes sélectionnés vont échanger, expérimenter et composer avec les deux chorégraphes, afin de créer un spectacle où la vie et la culture de chacun sera au centre de la création. Le projet de coopération porte ainsi le titre de travail “Crossing roots” (croisement des racines).
Présentations les 8 & 9 décembre à Hanoi, le 11 décembre à Ho-Chi-Minh-Ville, puis les 13 & 14 décembre à Jakarta/Indonésie. A Jakarta et Bandung, un autre volet du projet de coopération se déclenchera dans la suite, plus d’informations dans notre newsletter du mois de décembre. Ces projets ont reçu le soutien du fond de coopération franco-allemande Fond Elysée.

Annulation du festival de Corumbá au Brésil… et de “Geometronomics”
Ce festival dépend majoritairement du sponsoring et de partenaires privés. Certains d’eux, en perspective de la crise financière actuelle, se sont retirés du festival, entraînant l’annulation de l’ensemble de la manifestation.
Cela montre encore une fois l’importance du soutien public aux arts, particulièrement à la danse. Les coupures de subventions dont souffre le secteur culturel en France, et dont nous, MOOV’N AKTION, sommes sérieusement affectés, tout comme la tendance de conseiller au secteur de rechercher des financements alternatifs ailleurs – dans le privé – menacent la création et la diffusion artistique en France ainsi que la coopération culturelle. | |||||||||

Corumbá est loin, mais l’annulation du festival nous touche directement ici et notre équipe artistique et technique en Allemagne et – surtout - au Brésil. La logique du remplacement des subventions publiques par le partenariat privé est, elle, bien présente en France et présente un réel danger. | |||||||||

At the occasion of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Saison culturelle européenne (european cultural season) presents a number of events during the second part of 2008. CND Pantin and Théâtre National de Chaillot were associated to present hiphop choreographies – and more – in various forms at the famous Palais de Chaillot, in front of the Eiffel Tower. | |||||||||

Starting point was the french-german “tandem”, one of the examples of european cooperation and transborder friendship. First, a revival of Storm’s “Once upon a time…”, (co-choreograped by Raphael Hillebrand).
This work with a pedagogical focus has first been presented at the Hebbel am Ufer Berlin in April 2007. Prior to the proper creation in 2007, Storm directed workshops for several months of young dancers in different youth centers in Berlin. From the participants, Storm selected 18 amateur dancers, mostly from the Neukölln district, to create this “hiphop fairy tale. On the stage, this cast has been completed by six young professional dance talents from Berlin and the parisian suburbs.
The performance – once again presented for several performances at HAU 1 Berlin in June 2007, has been re-directed past November at the coproducer’s, CND Pantin, with a group of 12 amateur dancers from the parisian suburbs in Seine-Saint-Denis and Val d’Oise, with the same professional cast. | |||||||||

With the revival in the frame of the european cultural season a dream came true : a fusion of the amateur groups of Berlin and Pantin for a two-week-rehearsal period at the CND Pantin and performances on the big stage at Théâtre National de Chaillot. From the two groups, 10 dancers came from Berlin-Neukölln, 10 from Seine-Saint-Denis and Val d’Oise, completed by the professional cast, directed by Storm with the support of Raphael Hillebrand. | |||||||||

Storm’s second solo, “Virtuelevation”, has been presented during evening performances on the same stage in Chaillot, followed by Kader Atou’s beautiful work “Petites histoires.com” (company Accorap) - which some of you discovered during this year’s festival Danse HipHop Tanz at Théâtre Louis Aragon in Tremblay-en-France.
On the Gémier stage of Chaillot, the parisian premiere of “Together alone” by Sébastien Ramirez and Raphael Hillebrand, followed by the trio “T’es Trois” (Black Blanc Beur, choreographed by Christine Coudun).

Sébastien & Raphael in Vietnam : “Crossing roots” | |||||||||

September 2008 we realized the auditions for the new project in Hanoi : Sébastien and Raphael worked with more than 50 dancers – hiphop and traditional -, with mimes, actors, beatboxers and traditional musicians for three days, through improvisations in traditional dance and hiphop, music and theatre. | |||||||||
| |||||||||
Mid-November, the realization phase will start with 9 female and male dancers plus 2 musicians. Those who saw Raphael & Sébastien’s duo “Together alone” know their artistic universe: a research beyond the limits of dance including different elements of stage arts such as mime, spoken word, drama and music. The selected artists will exchange, try out and compose with the two choreographers, in order to create a performance where the life and culture of each single participant artist is in the centre.

Cancellation of the festival of Corumbá, Brazil… and of “Geometronomics” | |||||||||

The festival depends mostly of sponsoring and private partners. Some of them, because of the financial crisis, retrieved from the festival which has to be entirely canceled. | |||||||||
| |||||||||
This shows once more the importance of public funding in the arts, particulary in performing arts and dance. The cuts in cultural grants in France which concern the whole cultural sector, touching also MOOV’N AKTION in a very serious manner this year, and the tendancy to ask the operators to replace public funding by private sponsorship is a threat to the artistic creation in France. | |||||||||

Corumbá is far, but the cancellation of the festival and of our performance concerns us here in Europe, and even more our artists and technician in Brazil. The threat on creation, touring and cooperation in France is a problem we face here. | |||||||||
